Why The Last of Us Part II Sucks 2020

SPOILERS ALERT! If you hadn’t already seen or played The Last of Us 2, then consider yourself lucky. However, if you are like the rest of us who had experienced it, here’s why the sequel sucks.

Although the game was released today, the previous leaks and spoilers did not help its reputation… All the bad reviews have a right to their point, and I most definitely agree with them.

This sequel had so much potential to live up to, but sadly our expectations were destroyed when this game was what fans got. After waiting a solid seven years, you’d expect Naughty Dog to be developing a great game, not solely based on graphics.

The first The Last of Us game from 2013, had such a huge success with its beautiful character animations and graphic designs, along with an alluring and complex story arc. So for the sequel to be so terrible is disappointing.

Joel’s Brutal Death

Although the leaks definitely spoiled this event, it still shocked many fans. Joel was not the most morally correct human being and even made a very selfish choice at the end of the first game.

But he most definitely did not deserve to die in the way he did. Especially within the first act of the game (only 3-4 hours into the gameplay). The scene is even more heartbreaking when Joel doesn’t even say any last words to Ellie… Not even an “it’s gonna be all right baby girl”.

Image via Google

In fact, killing off his character so early into the game, only makes players not want to continue the game any longer. His death was so forced and unnatural, who wants to remember their favorite character dying off like that.

It’s like killing off your favorite character than play as it’s killer for the rest of the game. A complete joke.

Having his death to play out as a vengeance plot for the remaining characters rather than dying at peace. Because there is nothing wrong with having a happy ending!

Abby’s character is useless. The sequel tries to lead you on, by introducing you to a new playable character. Only to lead to the death of one of the most beloved characters of the game and brutally kill Joel (and in front of Ellie!)

Image via Google

Most fans know that his fate would come and that he would mostly die in the sequel, but not in the way he did. But even though all of this happens, the game still tries to make you understand of perspective and have sympathy for her?

Establishing her character as a morally “good” person by saving Lev. But then the game further explains her character as the one who said Ellie should be killed to save the rest of humanity.

Now, fans grew up with Joel and Ellie, we play as Joel and Ellie… how would her saying what is morally correct make us see her viewpoint, when fans are already emotionally invested with Joel and Ellie.

The whole plot around Abby is absurd and never gets connected back to the main point of The Last of Us series. Since the series is known for being a “story” based game.

It makes sense for audiences to judge the game on its story, not its graphics.

Abby VS Ellie

In the fight scene between Abby and Ellie, Ellie gains the upper hand against Abby. Despite having two of her fingers bitten off, Ellie sought to end the woman who took everything away from her.

Yet, she had a quick flashback of all the times with Joel and decides to let Abby get away? This scene added nothing to the story arc, as Ellie lost everything and gained nothing, leaving players empty-handed.

Image via Google

Even after all the people, Ellie has killed din her vengeance towards Abby was for nothing. Making the game incredibly dark and depressing… So what kind of message does that encourage for their fans?

Push for Politics

The game invokes an idea for female empowerment with homosexual girls (Ellie and Dina), a buff and muscular woman (Abby), pregnant women (Mel and Dina), and a 13-year-old trans girl who wants to be identified as a boy (Lev).

Image via Google

But what’s the point of adding these agendas when Abby brutally murders Joel and Jessie, and leaves Tommy handicapped.

This game only incites anger, violence, and hatred can do to the world. But plays it out so poorly when the writing in this game is trash.

Unnecessary Gameplay

Now this a minor problem, other games may also have to deal with. But all that crawling into tight spaces or under big trucks was pointless.

Image via Google

It seemed more like a forced way to drag or push out storylines longer than they should be. Either way, they seem very time consuming and unnecessary.

Card References?

Throughout the game, we see many references to space or some extraterrestrial in posters or superhero trading cards. Now I don’t know if this is Naughty Dogs’ way of sneaking in previews of a future game in the making, but it is very weird to put in an apocalyptic based game.

To reference of future of outer space or a world beyond the destroyed earth. Which plays out more hopeless than hopeful at this point. Giving a false sense of hope. Unless Ellie is able to travel to space within the next few games.

Many fans even compared this game to the season finale of Game of Thrones. Both honestly were offensive and tasteless to fans who looked forward to both franchises for a long time.

But since The Last of Us is a story-driven game, the majority of the experience comes from a compelling plot. The writers of the game may have been attempting at an element of surprise with having unpredictable characters?

But at the end of the day, if players had never played or experienced the first game, then maybe they would have liked this game, but I highly doubt it, since the writing was still nonsensical and there are too many plot holes.

Anyway, Thank you so much for reading! Comment down below your thoughts on the game or any mistakes I may have missed!

The “I’m not like most girls” “quirky” phenomenon

Now, where did this trend actually begin. Was it with the memes from radio rebel’s Tara Adams or Billie Eilish’s fanbase.

Lately, this trend has been appealing to most girls, to be different and “quirky”. Where this “quirky” girl’s personality is based on them doing something crazy. Like…eating… or watching Netflix and chilling at home. When in reality, these are normal things to do, not totally out of the world, crazy, unique, never thought of ideas.

Where putting down the supposedly ‘average” female, in order to make themselves feel better or look cool is actually just misogynistic or slut-shaming by being less girly or feminine.

Main Personality Types:

All these Manic PIxie Dream Girls usually share a common personality trait.

  • Outgoing/Extroverted
  • weird taste in fashion/music “oddballs”
  • don’t care about what other people think

But why are these MPDG girls interested in these boring and lame dudes who often mistreat or take advantage of them. Where their relationships are often a compromise.

Since these types of films never have a happy ending where the two lead characters get together. The purpose is to change the male protagonist’s life (the sad boy) for the better.

The MPDG “completes” the male protagonist or is so admired because she is what the sad boy can never be…

Common “Quirky” Girls

Edgy: despises other girls because they are “sluts”. Personally she doesn’t wear makeup and guys fall in love with her cause she’s different/tomboy.

Shallow: hates drama and doesn’t care about anybody else or what they think of her and to male friends, she is like “one of the other guys”. The ”I can open my own door” type.

Sadistic: tragic past, a victim of a bully, abused, but beautiful, shy, smart yet poor.

All three are never explored to a much deeper level because, by that time, they already had disappeared from the guy’s life and are no longer part of the story. Although I believe the stories could have more meaning if they were to.

Examples of the character portrayed in Hollywood:

Through a phenomenon called “manic pixie dream girl” a term created by Nathan Rabin. This character is mainly formed at the idea of the male protagonist. Its purpose is to fulfill that boy and to change his life for the better, only to suddenly disappear at the end. Leaving just as she first came.

StarGirl (2020)

Stargirl was one of the most infamous quirky girls from the early 2000s. She’s one of the most extra and dramatic students to ever appear. She especially makes a long-lasting impact on another student, Leo. Thus, their story begins.

Margo Roth Spiegelman was a pretentious and rebellious student, who loved solving mysteries. Her life was full of surprises and instability, there was never any room for her childhood best friend Quentin to join. Although mesmerized by her uniqueness and adventurous state, their romantic relationship would never last and was very unrealistic.

Ruby Sparks (2012)

Sam, a free-spirited senior in high school with her step-brother Patrick befriend Charlie, our main protagonist, and the sad loner of the story. Charlie is just an ordinary freshman nerd who has fallen deeply in love with Sam, who always seems to date the “wrong guy”.

Holly Golightly, a woman who simply does whatever she wants whenever she can, meets Paul Varjak one day in his apartment. Holly is what Paul wishes he could be. As adventurous, assertive, and outgoing as she was, she taught Paul something about himself that had yet to be discovered.

However, I think that this whole concept can be summed up in one image:

#BlackLivesMatter and How YOU Can Show Your Support!

Enough is Enough! If we, as a society, want this discrimination to STOP, we have to act NOW! Stop sitting around and doing nothing, because this topic is something that affects ALL of us, not just black people.

Image via Twitter

George Flyod’s violent death only reminds us of what kind of world we live in. That police brutality is a current issue and has to be stopped. But in order for a change to happen, we must start that change and fight for our rights! But with respect to others as well, not to stereotype the mistakes of one, to everyone within that stereotype.

Of course, the pandemic doesn’t make any of this any easier, but there are plenty of ways even the average person can do. Since everyone wants to stay home to protect their families (especially if you are living with the elderly) and can’t physically protest, don’t lose hope!

Here, check out all the links down below on how you can help! Remember, you don’t have to donate or protest, but even little things count, like sharing these links with others, who can help! Because YOU have a big role in this world, so spread the word and support in any way you can!

Worst TV Show Endings of All Time 2020

SPOILER ALERT (obviously) if you plan on actually watching these shows and wish to not be spoiled, then don’t continue reading!

One of the biggest shows od the decade has fallen off the charts within its final moments. If you haven’t heard of the absolutely horrible finale of Game of Thrones, well you’re in luck! To save you from watching that ending, I’ll provide a more insightful summary.

Game of Thrones (Season 8)

Image via Google

After a long-running 7 seasons leading up to this huge anticipation from all across the country,

Only to toss out the entire plotline from the beginning, destroying all fan theories, if any. With all of the complex lore from the famous novel itself, the show had ultimately been a disappointment.

Whether it was an act of desperation or the directors switching roles to work on the new Star Wars films, the directors had now disappointed both fandoms. For they have created the most random and non-connected plot twists any show has ever seen.

With Daenerys’s hinted pregnancy, bran’s useless third eye, Jon’s cowardness, and Ayra’s incredible jumping skills being able to high jump over all of the night king’s soldiers, unnoticed.

This finale has to be the worst in all of American TV shows. The only thing keeping fans going is if George R. R. Martin ever decided to finish “Winds of Winter” the last book in the series.

The Walking Dead (Season 10)

Image via Google

This popular apocalyptic show was quite terrifying at the beginning until you realize the real monsters of the show, were humans… However, after having your monthly villain for the sixth time, you get tired of the same reused concept.

So now the show creators decided to kill off almost every single character from the first season, including RICK GRIMES, himself.

Replacing him with the his daughter who is way too young too even take out a group of walkers herself.

Only keeping Daryl in the series, for he is the only reason anyone would actually continue watching the show. At this point, the series is way off the original comics, it was based on.

Pretty Little Liars (Season 7)

Image via Google

As if the struggle for finding our who A was, wasn’t enough, they introduced a whole new complex and messed family tree.

This all started with a man named Peter Hastings, who had an affair with Jessica DiLaurentis, leading to the birth of Alison DiLaurentis, and her siblings… who only made the show more confusing.

Basically, to sum it up, the four main characters, aren’t really the four main characters, because all the other side characters.

Sometimes there dead and sometimes it’s the long lost twin sister no one cared about. Either way, the show never provided the closure, fans have wished for.

How I Met Your Mother (Season 9)

Image via Google

The highly anticipated finale, only to crush every single expectation the fans could ever want. Even though it’s been six years now, we’re still not over it.

With the final shocking moment that Ted’s wife had been dead for six years, only to reveal that he was in love with Aunt Robin the whole time.

Video Games Inspired by Studio Ghibli

Studio Ghibli is an iconic Japanese animation studio, that clearly knows how to make an impact on its audience. It’s no wonder why it’s such a big inspiration for many other creators too.

Developing even more fascinating and intricate storytelling techniques in their own games. With the influence that Studio Ghibli has, what film or game producer hasn’t been inspired by it.

Here are two games (you may recognize) where the creators of the games felt deeply connected to the stories in Studio Ghibli:

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Created by Eiji Aonuma from Nintendo in 2017 was inspired by 1997 Princess Mononoke.

First off, has anyone ever noticed how similar Link and Ashitaka are? From the character design to personality traits portrayed in each character.

Both wearing similar blue outfits, riding elks, and shooting arrows. There’s even a section in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where Link can actually wear the almost exact clothes that Ashitaka wears.

Image via Google

Additionally, the original soundtrack of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, alone, is quite beautiful by itself. But after hearing it a couple of times, you begin to realize that the music sounds very familiar.

Here take a listen at the original soundtrack of both series:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild OST- Life in Ruins:

Princess Mononoke OST- Main Theme:

Little Nightmares

Created by Dennis Talajic from Tarsier Studios in 2017 was inspired by 2001 Spirited Away.

Firstly, Dennis Talajic, himself, has mentioned various times that he had been inspired by many Studio Ghibli films prior to creating Little Nightmares, especially with Spirited Away.

Both sharing a theme on gluttony or overeating, turning you into a monstrous creature as punishment. Originally Dennis wanted to name the game “Hunger” but thought it might give too much of the game away, so instead, he went with “Little Nightmares”.

Leaving the audience to discover the meaning of the game as they play for a more shocking and surreal moment.

I’d also like to make a point that Chiro and Six are also very similar. Both are relatively young girls, who are very curious and naive, yet strong… However, Six takes things a bit too extreme, while Chihiro is more innocent and caring.

I believe that one chase scene where Six is being chased by the “monsters” on the ship best resembles the chase scene between Chihiro and No Face.

Also, another character in the game, the Craftsman (or toymaker) looks very similar to Kamaji. Maybe even too similar, as they both have the same elongated arms and small googles.

It’s no coincidence that these games share so many similarities to the Studio Ghibli franchises. However, each medium has successfully created a story that will be remembered for years to come.

NEW BTS Self-Produced Album in October 2020

With Map of the Soul: 7 released on February 21, 2020, it’s only been three months and BTS is already confirming a new album in the making. Although all concerts have either been canceled or postponed, it almost feels like BTS is making up for it with new music.

Confirmed (and spoiled) by Jin in recent YouTube Stream:

Especially during this quarantine time, what better time to write new music without the societal stress, they’d have to deal with publically prior to COVID-19. Besides, they are also releasing MOTS7 Journey, a Japanese album in July. So fans are more than excited for this next comeback.

Rumors say the album will be released in October (five months from now), including:

  • 6-7 tacks
  • One similar to ‘Spring Day’
  • One rap unit
  • Two vocal units
  • Possibly Yoonmin?
  • And a skit

The Return of My Chemical Romance Had Been Planned 2020

It’s truly the roaring 20s now, with the return of emo culture! My Chemical Romance, the popular rock band since the early 2000s, has now officially reunited as of October 2019. Exciting many old and new fans of this group and rejoice in happiness to see your beloved group again. Now we don’t have to cry when hearing that g-note anymore!

Image via Google

Since they disbanded on March 22, 2013, fans haven’t been taking the situation well.

And for a long 6 years, fans have waited, but now we know it was all worth it. However, some theories have spread around, that the group had actually planned their break up from the start.

Image via Google

Quote from Image:

“A while back, Gerard said that he wanted MCR to follow the same path as the Smashing Pumpkins. The Smashing Pumpkins were together for 12 years, broke up for 6 years, and then got back together. MCR WAS TOGETHER FOR 12 YEARS. SIX YEARS AFTER THE BREAKUP WILL BE 2019 WHICH IS THE YEAR DANGER DAYS WAS SET IN…”

After seeing this theory come to past, many of us will even rewatch old videos of theirs to see if there are any other clues that we’ve been missing. Such as Danger Days being set in the year 2019… so perhaps their new album will continue the story in a new and mature way.

Since most of the band members are from their late 30s to their early 40s now. But can they still carry on the same energy and excitement as before? Especially since most of them are parents too now!

Image via Google

NOW GO GET SOME CONCERT TICKETS! (if they haven’t been completely sold out anymore, or just binge-watch old concert videos on YouTube during this quarantine time like the rest of us)

Thank you so much for reading! Comment down below your thoughts and theories on what their next album may be about!

Recently, Netflix added a new horror/sci-fi film to their collection of films to watch over this alarming pandemic. This new dystopian thriller by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, a Spanish director, has revealed a truth about our current society.

With the rapid spread of the coronavirus frightening many, it is evident that this film portrays an accurate representation of today’s nation. With the toilet paper shortage and people stocking up on piles of resources just proves this greed and ego our society has.

If you like movies like Parasite, South Korean thriller by Bong Joon-ho, then you’ll most likely enjoy this film as well! Both sharing similarities with the same premise of how society is corrupt among those lower on social status.

Following the story of Goreng, our main protagonist of the film, who voluntarily went into ‘the hole’. Having the audience discovering how everything operates through his own confusion and curiosity throughout the story.

What is the Hole (Hoyo)?

Many people have speculated that the “Hole” or platforms, symbolizes different social classes, each receiving different quantities of food, depending on the people on the level above them. Yet no one knows why this began or why it was made in the first place.

As Trimagasi states it perfectly, also being the very first thing ever said in the whole entire movie: “There are three different types of people: those at the top, those at the bottom, and those who fall…”

Each symbolizing a different status and will to make a change in society. Those at the top: people who are happy with where they are right now and won’t change. Those at the bottom: people who want change but don’t do anything about it. Those who fall: either the people who physically fall through levels and die or those like Goreng and Baharat who literally go down the levels, and make a change

Characters (and their item)

Each person can bring ONE item with them when entering the hole and it can be anything. Yet our main protagonist brought a book with him, a Don Quixote book, to be exact.

Meanwhile, most people, like Trimagasi brought weaponry with them, such as his Samurai-Plus.

Imoguiri brought her dog, as a sentiment companion.

Baharat brought a rope in hopes to escape, but has a flaw, needing the people above him to cooperate with him.

Miharu, a crazy, Japanese woman, who searches for her lost child (son).

Don Quixote

Many fans even mentioned that Goreng and Don Quixote look alike. Both revealing truths about society and the corruptness of it. Along with discovering the intentions and character of men. Discussing topics on social class and self-worth in society.

Many viewers have even made the resemblance between Goreng and Don Quixote, himself.

The ‘Rules’

According to the “administration” or Imoguiri, no one under the age of 16 can enter the hole, and there are only 200 levels. As well as saying that Miharu is a crazy, superficial woman who is searching for a child that never existed.

I also believe that the way the story plays out, that each section is separated into different acts. Where Goreng’s character or mental state changes. With each month that passes and having a new cellmate, his perspective also changes, on what ‘the hole’ truly is.

LEVEL 48, Goreng first enters the hole, waking up to find his cellmate Trimagasi, who was placed in the hole for accidentally murdering someone when he threw his TV out the window.

While Goreng voluntarily went into the hole, for after six months the ‘administration’ would exchange his time, for a college diploma.

We, as viewers, can now see that each person going in ‘the hole’ was offered something. Whether it was a submission to death, a college diploma, or a cure to cancer. This beginning stage of Goreng is still very naive and uncertain of how everything operates in this new environment.

Being able to think rationally, claiming how every level should learn to ration foods for those below them. Because if the roles were reversed they would wish the people above them could do the same.

LEVEL 171, Goreng awakens to being tied up by Trimgasi who’s already experienced being in the hole for almost a year now. Knowing that there will be no food, and within 7 days, he will begin to catabolize on Goreng and feed on him. Even offering Goreng some of his own flesh to survive.

However, Goreng saw that Trimgasi’s idea was wrong and rebelled against him, but he was still able to cut a piece of his skin and consume it. Afterward, Miharu returned to save Goreng since he showed her kindness, returning the favor by killing Trimgasi and feeding his flesh to Goreng to help him survive.

This is a breaking point in the film because everything Goreng swore not to do or thought was ‘wrong’, he was now doing himself. He had now cannibalized Trimgasi and saw the error of his ways.

LEVEL 33, Goreng is now partnered with cellmate Imoguiri, the former worker of the ‘administration’ who was curious about what ‘the hole’ actually was. She was even the one to interview Goreng prior to entering the hole, himself.

Asking him what was his favorite meal was (as the administration would put that specific dish with the rest of the other meals on the platform that they distribute to the people in the hole.)

Upon meeting Imoguiri, she also shares similar beliefs with Goreng, as she believes that the food should be rationed equally as well. However, she lacks the strength and aggressiveness to tell those below to do the same.

Not until Goreng finally appeases to Imoguiri and threatens those below them that he would literally “shit” on their food if they didn’t follow through.

LEVEL 202, Goreng now awakes on a brand new floor. Only to find had Imoguiri hung herself, knowing that being this low in the hole is already a death sentence…

Or another reason is that the administration had already told Imoguiri that there are only 200 floors, yet here they were on Level 202. So she might also have killed herself because she realized everything the administration said was a lie.

Goreng’s hunger and craving could no longer wait, so he also begins to cannibalize on her body until the end of the month.

Act 4

LEVEL 6, Goreng meets a new cellmate, Baharat. Both seeking peace and equal rations of food for everyone. Soon they descend the platform of food, down the levels, in order to provide food for the people on lower levels who were never able to eat.

Meeting a wise man, who told them to use the ‘Panna Cotta’ as a message to send back to those above on Level 0. Having to protect this one dish throughout every floor, even when there were no other dishes to distribute to those on the lower floors.

Supposedly, the hole only had 200-250 floors, according to Goreng’s calculation during his time on floor 202. However, upon finishing the movie, we now know that there are actually 333 floors. With two people on each floor, making it 333*2 = 666.

But because Goreng miscalculated, they soon figure out that if there isn’t anyone left alive on the level, the platform doesn’t stop and will keep descending until someone is alive.

As Goreng and Baharat continue descending, each floor gets more gruesome and disheartening. Until finally, they reach the final floor… level 333.

Only to find a young girl hidden under the bed, in fear of the men. The film cleverly hesitates between the girl and the Panna cotta (the message they were supposed to protect) and the girl who was obviously very hungry.

Ultimately, Goreng and Baharat make the decision to allow the girl to eat the Panna Cotta, as she was actually the perfect message to send back to Level 0… alone.

So Goreng sacrifices his life and the movie fades out as the girl ascends on the platform.

The Girl

Previously, Imogiurir tells Goreng, that no one under 16 was allowed to enter the hole… However, that doesn’t mean she entered illegally. Instead, I believe that she was born in the hole. This obviously isn’t impossible, because there are two people per hole, and it’s very possible for them to waste time during the month, by having sexual intercourse…

The reason she’s the perfect message to send back to the administration is that she had been on the very last level 333, and yet she had survived throughout all this time without food.

The Platform

The food represents their most important resources for a human to physically survive: food and water, and one cellmate for social interaction.

The platform could also represent capitalism, as the harder, you work, the more you’ll be rewarded… if you are on a higher level, of course.

However, similarly to reality, people can’t choose which social class to be in, we are born into whatever class in the beginning. But if we choose to change that, then you’ll have to work really hard…

Who is Watching Them?

Throughout watching the film, I’ve been wondering who had been watching the prisoners. Like how do they know that they have been keeping an item from the platform or not? The administration?

Because I feel like there is a greater evil behind this story since even Imoguiri worked under the administration and even she had been lied to.

Image via Netflix

Adding on to the fact that there are 666 people because there are a total of 333 levels with two people on each floor. This administration is obviously something nonethical or possibly satanic (evil)…

The hole and suffering being a representation of ‘hell’. As everyone was granted something from entering the hole in the first place.

Which seems more like blackmail than actually granting that person a certain wish, because they are ‘cheating’ life. Like curing cancer, escaping a death penalty, or even receiving a college diploma.

Possible Solutions to ‘the hole’

“There is enough resources for everybody’s need, but enough for everybody’s greed”

Image via Netflix

Many viewers mentioned how each person in the hole had ordered one specific dish, like Goreng and his escargot (snails).

So every person had ONLY consumed what they had ordered, maybe all of the chaos wouldn’t have happened. But ultimately it all depends on having “good” cooperation with others higher and lower levels than you.
