With all of the covid regulations cancelling many traditional Halloween events, how can you still celebrate Halloween? Well you’d be surprised how much you can actually do while staying at home and still enjoy Halloween!
What better way to follow the strict quarantine standards this Halloween then to stay at home to watch horror movies. This is a really easy task, as all you need is that one friend or family member who has a Netflix account, then parasite off of them. Then you can rewatch The Nightmare Before Christmas as everyone does on Halloween night.
Although many states have cancelled Trick or Treating, there’s no reason to lose that holiday spirit. I recommend still dressing up and decorating your house for yourself and others to see. Besides, now you won’t have a swarm of young children ringing your doorbell every second to have some candy.
Go to your local supermarket and buy all the Halloween candy you want! You no longer have to dress up or even waste time walking up to every single door in your neighborhood for only one piece of Hersheys. Instead you can have all the Hershey’s you want!
You can easily plan this with a couple friends, group call and have a blast just by finding clothes in your closet that look scary enough for a great Halloween costume. The best part is that this whole process is FREE, unless you want to be more extra and buy some extra supplies. You can even add fun prompts to game, like “cat” or “mummy” (to show off your rolls of toilet paper) to make the game extra challenging.
If you have any pets, you should definitely dress them up in fun outfits. Maybe they won’t enjoy it as much as you, but keep that Halloween spirit going around.
This task is also pretty simple, as all you need is a pumpkin and some carving materials. You can stay at home and everyone would be safe from your sneezes. Plus you can leave these sculptures around your house, or even plant some of your plants inside them as a cute decor after Halloween is done.
If you love cooking and making meals, then you should definitely make some amazing spoopy desserts! There are so many amazing recipes on Pinterest for “Poison Apples” or “Spider-Cupcakes” and even “Chocolate Frogs”!
Whether Halloween has been cancelled from outdoors or not, these classic Halloween Games are always traditionally a part of the night. Such as telling some classic Halloween ghost stories or play Ouija Board (if you’re crazy and not scared of death).
Recently, many online platforms have created quarantine based games to play with your friends online, so those could also be fun to play on Halloween. Or maybe even meet some new friends online!
(Similar to Monopoly, but your currency are masks)
(It does cost $2.99 on steam, but it is FREE on mobile stores!)
(If you haven’t already seen this gameplay on YouTube then you’re missing out!)
(If Halloween was a game, I couldn’t name a better fit for this event! For it has the perfect amount of horror and teamwork that you could ever need)
To legitimise that Halloween spirit, make some pranks on your friends (or enemies?) for an extra fun time! You can even record some of the scares you made and post, because they’ll be sure to get many laughs.
For any artists out there, participating in the Inktobker Challenge is perfect for this whole quarantine fiasco. You get to stay home and draw, and it keeps you busy the whole month)
Here are also some fun prompts I saw on Instagram:
For any writers out there, you should definitely follow @writing.prompt.s because they really do get you thinking creatively. Here are some prompts that I recommend (share your stories in the comments below if you want):
Although this idea technically requires you to leave the house, it is still quarantine safe. With 2020 cancelling many haunted houses events, some home owners decided to take a new creative initiative with this idea.
So, to still ensure everyone’s safety, but also giving a good scare, some home owners decided to create a drive thru haunted house. Where families would drive their cars into a designed place and slowly drive into each scene the owners have created to spook you.
However, this time, you can no longer run away from your fears… this time you are solely confined to the comfort of your vehicle.
